Ree was born as Ann Marie (nickname- Ree) in Oklahoma in 1969. She has 2 brothers and one sister with whom she grew up. Ree engrossed into multiple disciplines. She firstly completed her graduation from Bartlesville High school and then did journalism from University of Southern California. However, she later on switched to Gerontology from Journalism.

In the year 2006, Ree started her own blog named “Thepioneerwoman.com” hosted by rackspace. In her blog, she wrote about her daily routine living a ranch life. But after one year she had her first recipe posted on “How to cook a Steak” along with a Tutorial. It was not a regular Recipe she posted. Because along with that recipe she posted 20 photos explaining the procedure, his family stories and complete details, which enabled readers, interest in the blog. There is a page in her site called “Confessions of a Pioneer Woman” which went on to be very famous winning her awards in Web category consecutively.
