GDC is a reputed dental college in Mumbai and is even considered to be one of the oldest colleges prevailing in India. GDC is the abbreviated form of Government Dental College and Hospital. This institute was pioneered in India with the hope to provide the comprehensive dental education as well as courses. The foundation of this institution was brought into limelight in the year 1938. During its initial phase, it was known as Sir CEM Dental College which later on got re-christened to GDC.
Previously, it was running on the 1st floor of grant medical college and was practiced in Sir J. J. group of hospital situated at Byculla location of Mumbai. But, later on, with the support of 6 dental faculties it was provide the quotation of License in Dental Science to continue the degree courses. The vision of this college was brought in into reality by Dr. K.L. Shourie. Today, this college has been architecture in the 3 storey building that shows a good connectivity with CST Mumbai. This university has earned its recognition from Dental Council of India and is affiliated by Maharasthra University of Health Science located at Nashik. This college is known to offer specialization in 5 different department such as Oral Diagnosis, Radiology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral pathology and microbiology, Prosthodontics.
